How to setup winsock to connect to MajorTCP/IP's Pass-thru SLIP Server

Step 1 Start-up Windows and execute Winsock

Step 2 In the FILE menu, select the SETUP option

Step 3 Set the IP adress of the Name Server to the one used on the BBS
(Option 1 Hardware configuration, PRIDNS in TCPLIBM.MSG)

Note, you do not need to set the IP adress since these are Dynamic.
The LOGIN.CMD file will grab the IP adress automatically.

Step 4 Set the domain to the one used by your BBS
    (example: gm.gamemaster.qc.ca)

Step 5 Set the MTU at 1500 and select Internal Slip

Step 6 Select the proper com port and baud rate for your modem

Step 7 Select Hardware handshake (DCD [RLSD])

Step 7a You can enable Van Jacobson Header Compression (CSLIP) for
        better performance.

Step 8 Leave Windows or use file manager

Step 9 Copy the LOGIN.CMD file to your winsock directory.

At this point, Winsock is configured correctly to call up the BBS running the Slip Server,
All that needs to be done now is for the user to go back into windows and startup
Winsock. The program will ask for a username, a password and the phone number of
your BBS. The user only needs to enter his normal account information, with the
exception of the username. The username must be prefixed with the word "slip:". Do not
omit the colon. Example (slip:hisusername).

Winsock should establish a proper link with the BBS. The user is free then to start up
Netscape or any other SLIP program.
