Usage: use <item>
-or- use <item> on <monster/player> <x>

The "use" command applies to most items in the game. If you wish to wield
a weapon, hold up a shield, or wear some armor you would type "use item".
Also, the "use" command allows you to use a magical device. If you have
a device that heals damage points you would enter "use device" to heal
yourself, and "use device on player" to heal someone else. You would also
use the "use" command on a piece of a puzzle set to assemble the puzzle.
Finally, you also use the "use" command to stop using something that you
are currently using.

All items have a limited number of "uses". Using a magic device decrements
the number of uses, hitting with a weapon or having your armor or shield
hit decrements a use. Once the number of uses reaches zero, the item
breaks or just vanishes in a puff of magic smoke.

Magic rings are a slightly different kind of magic item. Rather than a number
of "uses", they have a timer associated with them. To put on a ring, you
"use" it, and to take it off you would "use" it again. Magic rings have a
constant affect that generally lasts several minutes. While the ring is
worn, the timer on the ring ticks down. Once the timer reaches 0 the ring
vanishes and the affect is cancelled. For example, while wearing a ring
of invisibility you would be invisible, and while wearing a ring of vigor
you would regenerate fatigue points at a much higher rate.

Using any kind of item takes action time.
