NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE!!!!! If you want
any kind of support whatsoever for this product, you _must_ be a node on
GrNet. We will only answer problems and questions in the echo areas. The
reason for this is to avoid the same questions being asked over and over.
THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS! For information on joining GrNet, contact Brent
Shellenberg at the GUNN Data Systems Support BBS, or Jim Plunkett (in the
FidoNet nodelist)

This file includes important information regarding Shotgun Professional.
Please read this file in its entirety in order to be up to date on changes
that have been made to the system.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------
o i386 class IBM or 100% compatible computer. (486 suggested)

o 2 MB Ram per active node. (4 MB suggested)

        o A Microsoft compatible mouse.

o 12 MB free hard drive space. (18 MB suggested)

INSTALLATION
------------
Make sure that you place your SHOTGUN.KEY in the source directory
for the install, prior to running install. The program will install
as a "demo version" if SHOTGUN.KEY is not present. The demo version
restricts online user access to 8 minutes per day.

After installation, make sure that the \SHOTGUN\BIN directory is in
        your DOS path statement.

PREVIOUS BETAS
--------------
This is the first full release of Shotgun Professional. It is in no
way backwards compatible with archives given out during the beta
program. You may file request the newest versions of Shotgun from
the GUNN Data Systems Support BBS (1:353/440 & 1:353/441@fidonet.org)

        MAGIC FILE NAMES:

                SHOTGUN - Complete installation.
UPDATE - Fix pack (containing only executables) There will
be no fix pack until at least October, 1995.

You may also logon to the support system if you don't have access to
a FidoNet mailer, or you don't have a node assignment. Note the
phone numbers at the top of this readme.

THINGS LEFT OUT IN THIS VERSION
-------------------------------
- The echo mail processor is only part way into construction, therefore it was
omitted from this release. It will appear in v1.20.
- The front end mailer is included in this release, however it is not complete.
  Not yet implemented:

        * Unpacking netmail doesn't include all message header info
        * There is no session queue as of yet
        * There is no event structure as of yet
        * Day by day histories are not complete
        * There is no facility for entering netmail messages
        * There is no facility for sending outbound mail
        * There is no routing set up

These things are rather important functions of a front end mailer, so you may
want to avoid using the mailer until version 1.20 comes out. It is provided
in this release for the beta testers that are continuing its testing.
- The documentation is coming along slowly, and as such, has been left out of
  this release.
- The terminal provided with this distribution archive, is a very simple shell
to launch the Yapp protocol. The front end for the terminal should be done by
the end of August, 1995. At that time, it will be sent out as a seperate
archive. In the meantime, the users will have to enter the dialing line in
by hand, ie: ATDT16043653152<cr> Megalomania Software (Sarnia Ontario) is
also in the process of finishing up a Yapp compatible terminal. You may want
to contact the company about this product. We fully endorse their terminal
package, as its very complete and well written. For more information, leave
a message to Brent Shellenberg on the GUNN Data Systems Support System.

Remember, without your support, the software can't evolve...
