 ProBoard v1.40 Beta/8 7 Sep 93

- RIP files can now be used for the following built-in ASC/ANS/AVT files:

     AFTERPW EXPIRED NOACCESS WELCOME2
     BEFOREPW EXP_WARN NOTAVAIL WELCOME3
     BIRTHDAY GOODBYE PAGED WELCOME4
     DLDELAY MAXPAGE PRIVATE WELCOME5
     DLDELAY NEWS SECxxxxx WELCOME6
     DLHANGUP NEWUSER TRASHCAN WELCOME7
     DUPESFND NEWUSER1 WELCOME WELCOME8
     EVENTDUE NEWUSER2 WELCOME1 WELCOME9

- Fixed some problems with file tagging
        * European/American date setting is now honored
        * Missing files are now properly shown as missing
        * It is no longer possible to tag the same file twice
        * Files that were successfully downloaded will now be "untagged"
        * Some cosmetic changes have been made to the file tagging prompt

- Fixed: It wasn't possible to download files that were not tagged. Oops!

- This belongs to Beta/7 (forgot to put it in the notes) : when ProBoard
sends the missing icons, it will send them all at once. In previous
betas, the protocol was restarted for each icon.

- Another Beta/7 feature that slipped by: A new menu function has been
added (function 68). It allows users to edit the list of tagged files.

- New download/upload option (function 32 & 33) (useful for PEX developers)
        /L=<log>
This will log all files sent and received to <log>. The name can be a
complete file name (with path). If no path is given, the file will be
created in the node directory. Note: ProBoard will APPEND to this file.
    The format is:
        <D/U> <area> <full filename> <size> <free>
<area> will be set to 0 if it is unknown (personal files , direct
                                              download)

    For example: D 41 C:\FILES\PROBOARD\PB_131.ZIP 535263 YES
                   D 0 C:\FILES\PERSONAL\SOMEFILE.ZIP 4590 NO
                   U 0 C:\FILES\UPLOADS\FILE.ARJ 54983 NO

- Another new download/upload option: /D will prevent ProBoard from
asking upload descriptions. (again, useful for PEX developers)

 ProBoard v1.40 Beta/7 5 Sep 93

- Fixed: The RIP font size is now saved to the user record.
- Fixed: PBUTIL FC was not working at all... (sometimes :-)

- File Tagging has been added to the file list, keyword search, filename
search and new file search. It's very basic, but it works. (not in the
  same league as EFL)
- These will now work for function 32 (Download):

/F=[nn]<file> , where [nn] is the area number, and <file> the file name.
     /F=@filelist

  Check BETA.DOC for more information.

 ProBoard v1.40 Beta/6 2 Sep 93

- Fixed: Screenlength for all users was set to 38 - oops!
- Fixed: RIP is forced enabled after returning from a shell (door)
- Fixed: The protocol selection screen now works again

 ProBoard v1.40 Beta/5 1 Sep 93

- Personal files should now work. I forgot about it in beta/4.
- New sysop hotkey Alt-M will edit the current menu.
- Fixed some minor RIP bugs...
- New menu function 66: Allows the user to change the RIP font for normal text
- New menu function 67: Allows the user to disable/enable RIP graphics
- The message reader has been enhanced a "bit".

 ProBoard v1.40 Beta/4 23 Aug 93

Yes, I know, another version number. This time it's here to stay (because
we're going to announce it at ONE BBSCON)

Some of the internal RIP screens have changed (_*.RIP). Don't forget to
copy the new ones to your RIP directory. For new beta sites, who haven't seen
RIP yet, there is a brief "how-to" at the end of this file.

One other MAJOR change... I said in beta/1 not to use "Reset Windows" when
saving your RIP screen. Now it is REQUIRED (except for INTRO.RIP)...
Sorry about that.

- The -U option for CONVERT SIMUL didn't work at all... :-(
- PBUTIL FC should be a little faster
- PBUTIL FI should be a little faster
- In ProCFG, you can press F1 in the user editor or F1 in the flags editor
to open a screen with your flag descriptions. The descriptions can be
  edited with Alt-E.
- The more y/n/c prompt is now RIP! It's hard to explain how it will look.
  Just try it out.

Totally new download function!! The options are...

        /F=<file> Download <file> directly
                                e.g. /F=C:\FILES\PB_131.ZIP
/F=[<area>]<file> Download <file> in file area <area> directly
                                e.g. /F=[13]PB_131.ZIP
/A Allow ANY file on the system to be downloaded
/P Download all private files for the user
/T Don't check time for this download
        /K=<key> Use protocol key <key>.
/Q Start download right away, without prompts
                                (needs /F=... and /K=...)'
        /I Ignore DL kbytes
/N No log. Don't log anything

Uploads are now also logged to UPLOAD.LOG in the system directory. It
contains the name of the file that was uploaded, and the name of the user.

Make sure you start using the new PBUTIL after upgrading to this beta.

 ProBoard v1.32 Beta/3 21 Aug 93

Starting from this beta, the version label is 1.32 instead of Operation 850.

This is a complete beta again, so copy all *.RIP files to the RIP directory,
and all *.ICN files to the icons directory.

Be careful! I included a sample INTRO.RIP. Make sure you don't accidentely
overwrite it...

- Dialog boxes implemented for several prompts. Hot feature: when a user is
entering something in a dialog box, the local screen STILL looks exactly the
same as before (as if the user was using ANSI). Eat *THIS* Andrew!

 Operation 850 Stealth Beta/2 20 Aug 93

- Message reader fixed. The buttons are disabled when replying to a message

 Operation 850 Stealth Beta/1 18 Aug 93

- Sysop Next (Alt-N) plays SYSOPNXT.MUS at logoff and creates a file called
SYSOPNXT.SEM in the ProBoard system directory.

** RIP **********************************************************************

  - Flashing 'R' on the right side of the status line indicating RIP mode
  - Alt-P window allows you to set the RIP menu name (if applicable)
  - In addition to INTRO.A??, you can have a file called INTRO.RIP

How does it work??

If you design a RIP menu, define the host commands exactly as they are defined
in your regular menus (no CR). Save the screen with the following options in
RIPaint: "Reset windows", "NO leading CR/LF" , "Kill mouse fields" , "Word
Wrap" , "Auto-Optimize" , and DON'T select "No Text Window".

In the menu editor, press Alt-P and set "RIP menu" to "Yes", and enter the
RIP file name. For every menu item, there are 3 options, which are pretty
unique, to say the least.

 - Show remote
     * Send menu-line/ANSI-file to remote when RIP enabled (Default No)
 - Show local
     * Send menu-line/ANSI-file to local screen when RIP enabled (Default Yes)
 - Reset screen
     * Reset RIP windows before executing this function (Default Yes)

These options are very useful. When the user has RIP enabled, the sysop will
still see the "normal" ANSI screens. Don't touch the defaults if you want it
like that.

What do you have to do to get it to work?
-----------------------------------------

Create directories for your RIP files and a directory for your icons. You
can set these directories in ProCFG/Options/Paths.

Copy all *.RIP files to the RIP directory.
Copy all *.ICN files to the icon directory.

Done!
