Title of Article: "ACiD" - An interview with RaD Man and ReDMaN Writer: Deeply Disturbed Appeared in: Distorted E-Mag, Issue #2, 4/21/94 I'd just like to explain a little how this interview was conducted. First of all, it was done over a VMB throwing messages back and forth, although this interview was intended for RaD Man, we got ReDMaN in there too. So double your pleasure. This interview was done on March 26th 5:56am ET and 2:56am WT. So if some stuff in here seems kinda old it's because the interview is old. That's about it, enjoy. Oh, yeah, this is one damn weird puppy. [Deeply Disturbed] So, what's new in ACiD? [RaD Man] we're currently working on ACiD ViEW v2.0. Alot of new features, but we can't tell you what they are. [ReDMaN] But it's gonna freak you out, your eyes are gonna pop out of your sockets. [RaD Man] But we will give you a hint, it's gonna be a new interface. Also faster and alot of new options. [ReDMaN] Oh yeah, alot of new stuff. [RaD Man] Spiffy and spam! [ReDMaN] It will give you three boners. [RaD Man] At a time! [Deeply Disturbed] Ok... so, what else is new? [RaD Man] We're also working on putting out our 1st official demo production. [ReDMaN] Yeah, but hasn't that been in the works for a while now? [RaD Man] But it will be done in a couple of days. [ReDMaN] That's cool, that's very good. [RaD Man] It's a project that has Canadian, American, Belgian & Finland people all working on it together. [ReDMaN] We're also gonna draw a 1000 line ansi of a dick, with our three best artists working on it. They're all gonna combine their talents to draw the most realistic Ansi dick ever. [RaD Man] It's gonna make you shoop. [ReDMaN] It'll give you three boners! [Deeply Disturbed] ok cool, so that's about it i guess.. anything else? [RaD Man] The Product!, we are working on The Product [ReDMaN] ReDMaN's doing something for The Product. [RaD Man] Watch for Product issue #2. And thats about it. [Deeply Disturbed] Alot of new stuff. Ok what's the biggest difference between the scene today and 2 years ago? [RaD Man] The major difference... [ReDMaN] RIP IS HERE! [RaD Man] Theres that and also as far Ansis go, Scrollers were a rare thing back then, ansis were all 25 lines or animations, what else is different? [ReDMaN] Well I wouldn't know, I wasn't around back then. [RaD Man] Oh yeah, Back then everything revolved around the warez scene, and now everything revolves around the art scene. [ReDMaN] You mean RIP... [RaD Man] Well yeah, now theres RIP. There's alot more stuff. People don't just focus on ANSI anymore. [ReDMaN] Anyways, nobody cares about WAREZ anymore. You know it would be strange if warez died, and only ansi was left. If it was only a huge 100% legal system? [RaD Man] Let's face it man, Coders and Artists are the future. [ReDMaN] Could you imagine the scene would be just a big exchange of art and programming. It would be totally legal, no one would get busted anymore. [RaD Man] But the thing is, people phreak to keep their art groups running. [ReDMaN] Other than that Warez is a big issue as far as busts go, phreaking is not as dangerous. [RaD Man] It would change the scene ALOT. [ReDMaN] I kinda hope it does, because I'm sick of warez. [RaD Man] Lets face it man, all the good games now are coming from Team 17, Apogee & ID Software, which are all PD companies. [Deeply Disturbed] having fun yet guys? :), ok which artist has left a good impression on you? [RaD Man] Person who left an impression on me? [ReDMaN] MARSHAL LAW Dude! [RaD Man] Nah, he didn't leave that much of an impression on me. [ReDMaN] Oh really who did?.. Black Spyrit? [RaD Man] He definately left a very good impression for his vga. [ReDMaN] Was there anyone that REALLY stuck in your mind all these years? [RaD Man] Basically all the "POP" artists. [ReDMaN] All the who? [RaD Man] Popular... All the ones people greet for no reason because they are all dead anyways. [ReDMaN] So you are talking about Black Spyrit and JED... Hey Marshal Law would fit into there!? [RaD Man] I'd say Tempus more than Marsal Law for some reason. I dont know, there are alot of artists now. I'd have to say JED. [ReDMaN] Good choice, very good choice. [RaD Man] Yep JED, the most loyal hard working artist. He did everything, worked his ass off and all that shit. [Deeply Disturbed] Ok i got enough shit here for 4 interviews so no more questions. Thanx alot guys. There it was probably the weirdest interview i have done so far. I would like to thank ReDMaN, for all the cool conversation :) and also thank both RAD MAN & REDMAN for taking the time to do the interview.
