Title of Article: Interview with RaD Man of ACiD Productions Writer: Eternal Lie Appeared in: Corruption, Issue #4, 9/16/94 INTERVIEW WITH RAD MAN OF ACID PRODUCTIONS Composed by Eternal Lie @ 7:00 EST / AUGUST 28, 1994 ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ Artist Profile: ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Handle: RaD Man First Name: Christian Affiliations: ACiD Productions, Founder Favorite TV Show: Martin Favorite Computer Game(s): Doom, The Horde Ideal Woman: My girlfriend ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ Interview: ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Well, why did you first get into the scene anyway? [The "Elite" Scene] Umm, free games. What happened with ? Did you quit and form ACiD, or did just turn into ACiD? didn't turn into ACiD. Around the time just before the formation of ACiD, only three members were really putting a real effort into making the group () run smoothly. Those three artists were Grimm, Shadow Demon, and I. Communication amongst artists like you see in art groups today was totally nonexistant. The WHQ at that time (Nuclear Wastelands, 408) was one of the first boards to lock out area codes, unfortunately, by doing this, they were locking out a majority of their AAA members. Between the three of us, it was a unanimous decision that a more efficient and respectable group could be ran without the extra weight. As I was talking to Grimm one late-night, we were throwing names at each other, I thought of ACiD, ANSi Creators in Demand. Everyone that we wanted to bring over into the new group (ACiD) was interested and the transition was made. Aside from its artwork, how do you think ACiD has improved over the course of time? I think major differences in the ACiD of today, as compared to when it first started, is that it's matured. Matured, not just in the sense of attitudes of people in the group, but its over-all performance, and all the minor details that make our group different from the next. What new has happened in ACiD recently? Any newcomers, software, etc? I'd like to extend a warm welcome to Sparr, previously of CORP of Finland. He's an excellent artist, and speaks great English too . As far as ACiD utilities and applications go, ACiD is working on developing a new Application Generator (programmed by The Hit Man), given that his hard drive doesn't crash again . Also, everyone should probably know, ACiDDraw beta version has been released. We have received mass feedback from everyone about which features need to be added and what needs to be modified. Skull Leader plans to add some of the most frequently requested features soon, such as Multi-Page Layering and Mouse Support. However, no immediate plans are being made to support ANSiMation at this time. Now that Channel Zero is down, what do you think is the best art board? There is no doubt in my mind that Channel Zero definitely was the best, but it's too soon for me to say who will take its place. Terra Firma received the mass majority of CZ's sites, so it could be a candidate, especially if he goes multi-node soon. Some people see ACiD as a big bag of politics, which is your overall view of the group? Do you want a political answer? I think anywhere you go into an organized group (or anywhere in general), you're most likely to find some politics. Politics don't always have to be a bad thing. I view ACiD as a very hard working group striving to be its best. What was your view on the last pack? Last months Acquisition Update was smaller than usual, due to the fact there wasn't a large abundance of VGAs and 2 meg JED ansimations. The couriers appreciated that, I'm sure The quality was there, but I think we'll do better production-wise in this upcoming pack. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? One, two, three... (crunch) Three. ------ Frequently Asked Questions about ACiD (that Eternal Lie should've asked) Q: When was the first Acquisition Update released? A: Not to be confused with the original Acquisition Archives, the first monthly update was released on June 1st, 1992. Q: What does RaD Man do? / What does the founder of the ACiD do? A: Holding a title as founder of a group doesn't necessarily obligate that person to have to do anything. But, for the past 4 years, with the exception of one month in the summer of 1993, and the help of the other members, I have tried my best to keep ACiD running as smoothly, efficiently, and properly as possible. Putting out monthly Acquisitions leads to late nights and other sacrifices, people who've been there with me know exactly what I'm talking about. Q: When is the next Acquisition coming out? A: (A Frequently asked question by the IRC "pack-rats") The updates are still released at the same it as it was in 1992. At the beginning of each month, the 'pacq' is released. Q: Does now stand for Art Creators in Demand? A: ACiD Productions(tm) no longer uses any acronym, and is legally trade- marked under the name ACiD Productions(tm). Q: Can I be a distribution site? A: No. Q: I love your RIPs! Do you think you could make me one? A: Wrong guy. No. Q: I love your ANSIs! Do you think you could make me one? A: Wrong guy, atleast, I hope you have the wrong guy... Still no.
