We Have Documentary!
Filming has started in January, 2002. Make sure I've contacted
you!
After several months of planning (and years of research), I've commenced
filming of interview subjects for the documentary in January of 2002. There's
still a lot to do, but the schedule is starting to hammer itself out and
I wanted to share where we are with you, the interviewees, so you didn't
feel left out in the cold.
If you're not an interview subject and you're reading this, then
consider giving me a mail over at
bbsdocumentary.com to
discuss getting yourself wedged in there. I don't want you to feel
left out! Get involved!
Now, for the rest of you...
Interview Subjects
January will be confined to New England. This is so I can get some
real-world experience interviewing folks and not waste time and money travelling
far distances only to find out I'm missing a vital part or didn't have all
the documentation finished. I expect to be doing a bunch of travelling by car
throughout January, and then moving to plane rides (LOTS of plane rides) for the
rest of the interviews. If I can make it to somewhere in less than 5 hours by car,
I will naturally take the car option (to save money for the plane trips).
With few exceptions, most interviews will be on weekends, so I can still do my
day job properly (my boss has been very understanding about all this but I'm
not going to press him). In one or two rare cases, I may take a day off from
work so I can spend more time in a location. (Hawaii or Europe comes to mind).
YOU HAVE ALL BEEN MAILED AS OF JANUARY 1ST, 2002!
Research, Corrections and Correspondence Will Continue Through 2002
Contacting Me
Jason Scott
I am interviewing a metric ton of BBS folks! After months of correspondence,
I have arranged interviews with people in well over half of the United States
and a good portion of the Canadian Provinces. I have open invitations/discussions
to travel to other countries, ranging from England to New Zealand. It looks like
I have at least 200 folks to interview, and maybe more.
On December 28th, I mailed out a massive e-mail to every single person I ever
spoke with or contacted regarding the documentary. This mail discussed scheduling,
status, and generally asked people to fill out the
interview-o-matic, a site
with interview information and a form to fill out. Lots of people did, and that's
helped me so much I can barely thank everyone enough for being candid and
informative. If we talked in 2001 about interviewing you and you you don't have
this mailing from me, something is wrong. Maybe you slipped between the cracks,
maybe you said "I'll see you soon." and I thought it was a closing sentence and
not an actual invitation to be interviewed. Maybe I mis-saved your message in
the wrong folder. Regardless, if you didn't get a mail, mail me immediately so I get
you into the schedule. And please don't feel slighted if this happens; we're
talking dozens and dozens and dozens of people and I'm just one guy. I make
mistakes too. Allow me to apologize in person. :)
Just to be sure everyone's clear on this, I don't have a situation where January 1st
has become the date I stopped researching and working on the site, and that I'm exclusively
filming and nothing else. Quite the opposite! As I do more interviews and get more insight, I
will have a good amount of NEW ideas and NEW avenues to explore, all throughout the
year. That's just part of the fun of doing all this; even I don't know what all
the subjects are going to be. So keep all that information coming. It just might not
be updated on the weekends, or it will be, from some hotel room somewhere.
There are several ways to contact me. You can send mail to me at either

leave a message for me on the phone at 1-617-COW-TOWN (269-8696).
